How much is a '79 F150 in poor condition worth?

Trying to see if my father got a fair price. He sold it for $500. Don't know exactly what's wrong with it. Doesn't idle well, sometimes dies and won't restart without minor work. A bit rusted. Hole on the floor on passenger side.
