Bring back the Sonics: Review 4
Alright everyone I'm back with the 4th review and this one is the one I've been dying to do. The subject of today's review is DPOY Gary Payton aka the most under used PG in 2K. Like every other review he's been used multiple games in the 1st seed in RTTP. I have no clue who I'll do review 5 on but it'll come soon enough, maybe a PF since I haven't done one of those yet.

Key Stats: High 90's for most defensive stats, including 99 steal. 97 pass accuracy, 80 standing 3, 81 standing mid, 93 driving layup, 83 post fade.
-
Puts the clamps on anyone: In every game no one he's been put on has scored more than 10 points, this while playing on ball defense. His 99 lateral quickness makes it easy to take away crossovers from the likes of D-Rose, he gets by almost every screen set, and his 99 steal stat causes numerous turnovers. Unless your opponent is running Lebron at point you're good to go.
-
Floor general: Gary Payton will run your team like no other, for the last five games he's averaged 8 assists with totaling 15 even in one game, his passes never seem to miss or get intercepted. His 88 speed gets him going on the fast breaks and he'll always make those alley oop passes to finishers. He is always making plays for me, never seems to garner any turnovers and can score when need be.
-
Scores when you need him: Unlike Steph Curry, Drose etc. don't expect a lot of points to come from him, the most I've had lately is 15 and that's just because of the last second free throws. He is first and foremost a distributor. However if used correctly he will score for you on the drop of a dime. Put him with shooters and spread the floor, he will most likely be open and with the 80 three ball he can knock it down and ever since patch 6 I've noticed he rarely ever misses a wide open look. His 74 free throw is wary but I've noticed if you get the release down his miss maybe 1 and that's when 2K wants him to. Last but not least is his post moves, if you have any smaller or weaker Pg on him, you can post them up and spin right by or cash out for that fade.
-
All in all: If you want a pure PG there's no reason not to get him, he can do it all and if you're getting tired of people dropping bombs on you wth Curry he'll shut it down no problem. If you play smart and know how to use the glove, he will shut any diamond PG down. He's overlooked because of the low shooting stats, but if you're a smart player, he will put in work for you every game. He's about 25-35 K on PS4 but his price changes a lot. I seriously give him a 5/5 stars if you're looking for a floor general type player.
