how hard is it to find funding for a master's program?

I've really been considering a master's program before PhD simply because I don't think I'll be able to get into a PhD program because of my lack of research and maybe my GPA, and regardless I don't exactly feel "prepared" to jump into one, so I've been looking at master's programs that would help me recover a bit and provide a research project to help me get into a grad school.

I sort of assumed that master's program fundings were little to non-existent for some reason, but I've kind of come across some schools that offer fellowships to master's students with GPA minimums ranging anywhere from 3.2 - 3.6 or whatever, along with GA/GTA options.

I know it really varies on the school, but are these things that are normally guaranteed to those who meet the requirements, or is it really reserved for a select few. And what are some good places to find fellowships and stuff for master's students? From what I've really ever heard about master's program is that there aren't really federal grants like for undergrad and no huge fellowhips like for PhD and just that many people have to take out loans to complete them so this is just something new I've discovered.

if it means anything I was looking at applying to a masters in either computer science, data analytics/science, or bioinformatics (but probably CS or DA/DS)...and then going for a PhD in Bioinformatics. I was considering staying at my school for a masters in CS because it costs less but I really don't think I want to and I am not interested in any school in this state for any masters as they either don't have what I want or just don't seem like a good fit...so OOS or private is my only option and both are way expensive than staying in-state. Still thinking about it, but I really feel I need a change and also want to be exposed to more variety in terms of research/opportunities/lifestyles and so on
