My predictions suck, and I got Postol on this one so that probably means Crawford will win. This is a great gift from the boxing gods up there with Porter/Thurman.

2 good 50 50 fights whats the world coming to

Personally, I'm so so so grateful al haymon didn't have anything to do with 1 of those fights otherwise the narrative of him being Don King reincarnate would start to derail a little bit.

Crawford pulls away down the stretch to win a UD. Expect early rounds to be cagey and uneventful and Postol possibly to be ahead as Crawford takes a while to adjust, but TC's well roundedness and punch variation should see him take the W

So here's the bottom line about that fight. Many folks on this sub seem to rate Postol very very highly and only after stopping Matthysse. Prior to the Matthysse fight 70% of this sub didn't even know who Postol was, but everyone knew who Matthysse was. Therefore Postol is given an extreme amount of credit for this singular win. Postol's second best win is over an old Aydin and I mean come on, Aydin is your stereotypical gatekeeper.

So that's my whole preface; r/boxing puts way to much credit into Postol's only notable win. Partly because they knew the fighter he stopped and because we all love Matthysse, that love translates into a false sense that when a fighter beats Matthysee it means that fighter must be amazing! With the notable exception of Danny Garica who was the only other really clear defeat of Matty's, but Garica still gets shit on (tale for another day).

I say all this to say, Crawford will beat Postol. Postol is probably one of the most over-rated fighters out there right now while Crawford is one fighter who's the total package and P4P worthy. Not to mention the whole passing the "eye test". Back when Crawford fought Prescott on a couple days notice and didn't lose a round, he passed the eye test better then any fighter has in recent memory. For Crawford it's just a matter of time until he becomes accepted as a great fighter, because he's going to keep winning. If beating Postol is what it takes to get people on his side I'm all for it. I've been trumpeting the talent of Crawford for a while now. I just can't wait till he comprehensively outpoints Postol and people finally start giving him respect.

Well matthysse is better than anyone crawford has beat

Right here me out. Ricky Burns. Mattyhsee is obviously an impressive fighter but went life and death with John Molina, lost to Judah and Alexander. His best win is Peterson and it was impressive. Burns was on a serious hot streak having beaten Rocky Martinez and Kevin Mitchell. The kid is tough as balls and got a gift of a decision against Beltran before succumbing to Crawford who dominated him over 12. I think it's all relative and obviously I am biased but Burns was no joke and on a par with Mattyhsee. In fact let's line those two up for a fight it would be great.

Mathysse was robbed in the Judah fight, and in the Alexander fight. And it's entirly possible that the Molina fight went the way it did because Matthysse wasn't feeling it anymore after his loss to Danny Garcia, the sameway he isn't feeling it anymore now after his loss to Postol.

Burns is tough, but toughness doesn't win you fights(unless your fighting in Scotland) skills win you fights and Mattysse was more skilled than Burns could ever hope to be. A few wins against midgets like Gamboa or Lundy who caught you clean repeatedly, guys whos jaws were recently broken(Burns), guys that refuse to throw punches against southpaws like Klimov, or refuse to do anything in general like Beltran do not equate to a single, game Lucas Matthysse.

Crawford has no head movement, and if he does it's very limited. How will he deal with someone taller with a longer reach? What's gonna happen when Postol reminds the world that he's not the boxer-puncher they though he was when he beat Matthysse, but is actually a volume puncher who has thrown over a 1000 punches in his fights? Everyone seems to overrate Crawford here because they're dazzled by his dominace in weak divisions against guys with shorter ams than his.

Why does everyone forget that when Crawdaddy fights guys his size like Beltran, Burns, Klimov etc... he can't knock them out? If Matthysse couldn't hurt Postol, how can Crawford hope to?

I loved reading your response it was very well thought out and written. I will still take Crawford and you can take Postol.

the sameway he isn't feeling it anymore now after his loss to Postol

So then how can you rate Postol beating a clearly uninspired Matthysse? I just don't get why Postol gets SOOOO much credit for beating a fighter who seemed like a shell of himself.

Crawford wins UD

Crawford by KO around the 8th. Postol's biggest win seemed more to me that he broke the guy's will to continue than anything else. Crawford's knock outs are far more convincing, and he's had a lot more of them.

I think they will have have an ugly tactical match for a few rounds, with Postol doing a lot of holding. Crawford will be inflicting more damage the whole time though, and it will eventually be enough to render Postol unable to defend himself.

It was very strange to see Lucas not get up from that. Afterwards, I read that postol had broken mathysse's orbital and he couldn't see which obviously will scare the shit out of you.

I think Crawford's power might give him the edge and lead him to a decision.

definitely not going to be an easy one though.

UnderstatedElegance•

This is literally the same thing I said about Matthysse, but yeah I think Crawford has a bit more skill than Matthysse

I think Crawford has a bit more skill than Matthysse

I'll second that. Crawford is less straightforward. Crawford appears to be difficult to time and predict.

Postol using that jab and height Vs Crawfords pop shots and inside fighting. If I had to put money, I'd say Crawford bc I think he's the smarter, more intelligent fighter. It's a pickum.

I see Postol taking the decision. Many thought Mattysse was going to beat him and Postol KO'd him - which was a surprise to many. Don't think he'll KO Crawford, but he'll take the majority dec. Excellent fight nonetheless.

How can you guys predict whether it's a UD, MD or SD? This sounds too precise to me...

1
BoxingFan88•

Its a pick em, but I'm going with the same bet which is Crawford

Real 50/50 though

2
NDL1988•

I think it's a real 50/50 fight, at least on paper. I'm leaning towards Postol, partly because Crawford is a slow starter.

He easily loses the first rounds and I see this going to a close decision and that could be critical.

Also last time I bet vs Postol ..... was just not a good experience for me

2
Not_Like_The_Movie•

I want Crawford to win, but I see Postol giving him major problems if it plays out how I'm expecting it to.

1
marshalldrum•

I see either one getting hit with a bomb and going down.

Crawford. I think he is too dangerous at this weight for Postol to deal with him. Should be a great fight though, definitely a harder one to call. Any other person at 140 I think either of these two would stomp em, they're definitely the two big dogs.

1
Chaosdrax•

50-50 fight. I hope Crawford wins though

I got Crawford knocking him out hands down

Crawford via controversial decision.

Postol uses his height and reach to outbox Crawford. I wouldn't even be surprised if Crawford gets stopped.

Postol is highly underrated.
