Things the Sun Didn't Teach Me
Among the things in Nature
that can be learned from the ground,
there are many.
The Sun did not teach me, but I knew
that flowers bloom, and
that fires spark, and
that showers pour, and
that forests breathe, and
that there was life in all these things.
It was not until I was a bird in the sky
though,
that I could see life for its truth:
a spell being cast twice a day.
Magic escapes the place
where the Earth meets the Sky,
where fire comes to play;
a bursting flower of flame.
The Sun taught me
about Horizon’s Gates.
It is the beginning, it is the end,
and it is the continuation
of all life.
Yesterday I was a man,
today I am a bird, and
tomorrow, when I am a fallen star,
I will meet you there,
at the hub of the new world,
at Horizon’s Gates.
