Brontophilia
Like a radiant sun,
a fireball smashes through glass:
the sky is shattered.
It lights up my eyes,
my lips open slightly,
the rhythm of my heartbeat quickens
in amorous anticipation.
Rain pounds mercilessly down –
like someone easing up a dial.
The intensity builds
And builds –
(one one-thousand... two one-th-...)
There!
A whip cracks above me,
like God clucking his tongue.
Earth rumbles and moans,
as thunder vibrates through her,
gently shaking my bones.
Watching the trees shiver,
I’m slumped against wet stone,
as the hissing static of raindrops
beats me deaf and dumb.
