Mazda mobile start

Anyone happy with this? Had my car (2016.5 cx5 gt) a week and it fails at least half the time. Takes forever even when it does work. Have to imagine any 3rd party system would be better especially for the insane high price.

  1. I've only had it fail once on me. Used it almost every day this last winter.
  2. It's not going to be instant based simply on it's nature. If you wanted fast, you should have gotten the key fob remote start. The mobile start system has to communicate through a data center, then through cellular partners into their cellular network then to the car and then back to your phone for confirmation the car started. The advantage...no concerns for range so I can start my car from my desk before I leave work if I want, for example.

I understand it takes time but it sits there for 30 seconds to a minute or 2 and then says NOPE! Worst part is it still puts you into the app like it actually connected even though nothing will work because , it never connected. So you have to close out and try again. I end up at my car before I can get it to connect most of the time. Meanwhile 2 coworkers one with an 8 year old car and one with a 18 year old car with 3rd party systems have theirs started no issues.

You might want to have the system in your car checked. If you had it installed at purchase, it is covered by warranty. All I can say is that mine has only not connected once in the 7 months I've owned the car.

They say it works fine and is just how it is. Giant waste of money.

My parents use to own a car electronics store and we sold DEI products, Viper and such. All of our cars have had their alarms and remote starts installed and never have been disappointed. Planning to do my '14 3 soon. Two-way system with ~1 mile range (depending on the terrain) was more than sufficient for me.

Don't buy it. It feels like a rebranded 3rd party mobile start system, actually probably worse.

I had my windshield replaced due to a rock chip that turned into a crack. This rendered the antenna stickers useless. Asking the dealership it'd cost $110 for the antenna "install kit" which is the only option to get the antenna stickers back ... All the wires are still in place and usable.

They're either idiots, because they didn't think windshield replacements are common replacements or they just don't care.

This sort of system should be built into the rear view mirror area just like OnStar or BlueLink.

Don't buy it...
