ThePandaDanDarkseid•

I'm actually kind of happy about that. I was worried about them blowing their load too early by using Darkseid right away.

TheAeolian•

Agreed. The only downside is that people will assume he is a Thanos ripoff instead of the other way around. But Darkseid is the big bad and I'm happy they aren't going to waste him.

I think the smartest way to play it is to let Thanos be alien Hitler, while Darkseid focuses more on the God of Anti-Life stuff.

12
CurlyBap94Black Adam•

Yeah, if they focus on the God aspect they can differentiate between them and with WW, they can play on the mythological aspect as well.

Seymor569•

I feel like that's exactly what X-Men did with Apocalypse. There literally wasn't even an x-men team set up and they throw the biggest bad they have into the ring?

This should be a magic carpet ride

Well he was born to be wild.

This movie has the potential to Rock Me

Darkseid damn the pusher man.

1
MrXilasScarlet Spider/Kaine•

He's not a villain known for his Tenderness.

1
JayGarrick_Flash•

Other people are saying Steppenwolf is not the main villain of the JL movie. Darkseid and his presence will play a major role in the movie, Steppenwolf is just JL spoilers

LongboxjockeyBullseye•

Going the Superman the Animated Series route of introducing Steppenwolf first and probably Darkseid at the end? Sounds good to me!

4
oblivious247Spider-Man•

Darkseid's lapdog as the villain for one of the most anticipated superhero teamup films of all time seems .....anticlimactic...

Yeah I would have much preferred Giant Mindraping Starfish.

Starro getting some love!

Patrick!!

I wouldn't expect a group of brand-new heroes, sans Superman to take on Darkseid in their first outing. Also, it gives them a chance to double dip our wallets for another movie or two.

4
Basskicker1993Dream•

Nu52 JL was exactly that.

jackfreemanSpider Jeruselem•

But they were already soloists at the point they joined up. In this movie, they are all going to be really green save for WW and Bats, and they won't have a Superman.

1
oblivious247Spider-Man•

Neither do I. I was hoping more for a villain that was significant all their own.

1
vadergeekMadman•

It's not like they were forced to go with either Darkseid or Steppenwolf. Big world full of villains to pick.

I wish they chose Granny Goodness. Maybe Kathy Bates can be Granny Goodness.

3
SpeedwagonbestwaifuCatwoman•

I always thought granny goodness was a man

1
Lyle91Saint Walker•

On the one hand I'm disappointed they're not using a more well known villain for the first ever cinematic Justice League. On the other hand it's probably in this universe's best interest to use lesser known villains first. That way it'll have more longevity.

2
MoncoleIceman•

Steppenwolf sound like a German death metal band.

1
ThePandaDanDarkseid•

Steppenwolf actually is a band, the song Born to be Wild is probably their most recognized song.

Also Magic Carpet Ride

Hopefully Granny Goodness and Glorious Godfrey joins him in retrieving the Mother Boxes.

So Avengers featured Loki (a bad guy with a horned helmet) acting as a kinda sorta herald to Thanos, and now Justice League will feature Steppenwolf (a bad guy with a horned helmet) acting as the kinda sorta herald to Darkseid.

Not too subtle, Warner Brothers (and yes, I realize the Steppenwolf/Darkseid dynamic is accurate to the comics, but the parallels to Avengers are going to be even worse now for the casual viewer).
