If we're ever fully healthy...wow.
Random question, I could very well be mistaken, but to me it seems as though the press doesn't really give the Rangers much love. Is there any truth to my assumption? I can somewhat understand the local press, due to the Cowboys and football at all levels being the big dog in town. However, ESPN, MLB.com, etc appear to only report on this team when they have to.
East/West coast bias my friend
Forgot about the fly over states syndrome. Also the reason the NBA had it out for the Spurs for so long.
They're just not in the conversation yet. Teams come and go and get hot and cool off often enough that for bystanders it isn't worth getting super absorbed into each one, and as a result I think you have substantial lag time when you talk about trending baseball teams. As a result, everyone knows about the Giants, Royals, Mets, but most other teams that aren't universally acclaimed (Cubs) or in huge markets (Yankees) go under the radar by default.
Rangers have to again earn their place in the discussion, and they do that by making a WS run. They're only just now starting to get some respect, as you seem to have noticed.
Hey if it's not too much trouble can someone tell me why the Rangers have been so good this year? I don't really know anything about the team and don't see much about them either. It doesn't seem like they have any big names having incredible seasons but they have one of the best records in baseball.
The team is playing HARD. Every day they are going out there and giving it their absolute all. Running out every play, sprinting to second on a routine groundball, taking that extra base. Everyone is just playing well together, the team chemistry is off the charts. Also, we've been incredible clutch. It all adds up to a team that's really, really difficult to beat. We don't have any real weak links, in any of the facets of the game or in the lineup.
7 of our 14 games are against the twins?
Nice. As a fan I'm like easy wins. But looking at this team they will probably play the twins just like they play the Red Sox. They take every team as an opportunity rather than a I am better, watch me beat you.
That's what I like about this team.
I'll be in Minneapolis this upcoming Sunday to watch the Rangers play the Twins (crossing Target Field off my bucket list.) Hoping it turns into a favorable streak for us against them.
I'm a little jealous of you, Minneapolis is awesome in the summer and Target Field is pretty great too.
I think getting swept by the A's in May woke them up a little.
Then the collapse against the Red Sox.
I think things like this are constant reminders to this team that you have to keep your head in the game for the full 9 no matter what your record is.
Honestly that scares me. The Rangers have a long history of playing to the opponent's level and losing to bad teams even when they beat good teams.
No win is an easy win.
The Rangers did just drop a game to the Reds, after all.
