Can You Use Your Subsidized Upgrade If You Have Been Hit With The Price Hikes?
Some people on the Slick Deals thread who have been hit with the price hikes are saying that they were able to use their subsidized upgrade and order online through Verizon and keep their UDP despite having activated the subsidized phone on their UDP line.
I personally would not do this. It is Verizon's official policy that you cannot get a subsidized phone on contract and keep UDP even if you have been hit with the price hikes. So I think this is a glitch.
And it is possible that in the future if you take the subsidized phone off of the UDP line and put it back on or if you activate a new SIM card on the UDP line with the subsidized phone on the line that you will lose UDP - just like what happened retroactively with the BBM.
Until Verizon officially announces that if you have been hit with the price hikes you can use your subsidized upgrade and keep UDP, I personally would not risk it. This seem to me to be a glitch and one that could result in the loss of UDP at some later date and it would be too late to return the phone, file an IPR and get UDP back.
I would only do the BBM and Sell the Phone or Aohus or one of the other methods that works because you never put the subsidized phone on the UDP line whose upgrade was used to purchase it. My personal preference is BBM and Sell the Phone, 4ever and Sell the Phone or Snkydvl and Sell the Phone without ever activating the subsidized phone on your account.
