Advice for a back up vocalist.
Hello. I've been asked to sing backing vocal in a ban and don't know much about music. I'm not even sure what notes and keys are. Any relevant advice would be appreciated.

Honestly unless you can actually sing to begin with you should turn down the offer. We don't need more non-singer "backup singers" in the world, the audience won't like it the band will think they do but it's really making them look worse etc. If you CAN sing then reply maybe with a recording of you trying to sing the backups on the song I'll see if I can help you shift your singing into a background vocal style

Listen a lot and if things sound bad change what you're doing. Always be listening. Also take lessons.
