Thanks for posting that! I was worried I'd get bumped back after last year's debacle.

What happened last year?

Went out strong and completely fell apart. 2nd worst time for me and had been on track for a PR. I own it; I f**ked up.

Oof. Hope training is going well for this time around!

It definitely convinced me that I had gone as far as I could with training on my own. This year I signed up with CES - I'm cautiously optimistic that I will achieve my goal!!! and thanks!

Seems tougher standards than last year? Last year I barely squeaked into B with just under 3:35, but now they want 3:20. I was hoping to be in A this year but I'm still in B with 3:07 (they want 3:01 but I think last year it was more like 3:15?)

last years standards were 3:15 for A and 3:35 for B. And 4:00 for wave 1 altogether. This year is 3:01 for A(men) and 3:20 for B, 3:50 for wave 1. I think they're trying to not overload wave 1 overall.

Yeah bummed. Thought I had A with my 3:14:xx. I wonder if they'll adjust which pace groups are in the corrals.

I just checked and the fastest pace group in corral B is 3:10. From the website:

In which start corrals will the Nike+ Run Club Pacers be placed?

Corral A: 3:00, 3:05, 3:10

Corral B: 3:10, 3:15, 3:20, 3:25, 3:30, 3:35

Corral C: 3:30, 3:35, 3:40, 3:45, 3:50

Corral D: 3:45, 3:50, 3:55, 4:00

Corral E: 4:00, 4:10

Corral F: 3:40, 3:50, 4:00

Corral G: 4:10, 4:25, 4:30, 4:40

Corral H: 4:40, 4:55

Corral J: 4:55, 5:00, 5:10

Corral K: 5:10, 5:25, 5:45

Wow that's hella annoying. Was planning on 3 or 3:05. Maybe I can sneak into A lol.

Edit: Emailed them. We'll see what they say. Like as it stands you need to have run 3:01 or what is probably a faster equivalent HM to run with a BQ pacer. Doesn't make much sense.

I would think so. In 2013 I was in B and I think they had 3:05 as the fastest pace group.

I'm hoping they bump some of the B's up to A when they realize they don't have 3000 people who have run 3:01 for men, or 3:10 for women.

I was considering going out with the 3:05 pace group, but the fastest pace group in corral B is a 3:10.

I, being a greedy bastard, would be perfectly fine with a sparsely populated A corral. Love me some open road, especially with the large number of turns in the first couple miles.

so i ran 1:24:30 in a half and the A cutoff is 1:25:01. I just submitted a request. Will I likely get into corral A, or will they have to prioritize everyone faster than me and people that are submitting a marathon time and not a half time? just curious how likely it is. Really hoping for A

I was able to get bumped up at the expo after running a half 2 weeks before. So worst case that's an option.

Edit: I guess point being it shouldn't be an issue.

If you submit a corral bump request, how quickly does it usually take place? I'm currently in E based on last year's marathon time and looking to get bumped up to C after a half I ran earlier this year (1:39).

I'm sure if you submit now you'll get bumped up in time. I think you have to keep checking the runner status page tho. I don't think they email a confirmation

So I'm currently in B even though I only have C qualifying times. My times are good enough for last year's B standard though. Meh, whatevs. It's my 2nd marathon in a week so the assignment won't matter much.

All runners that have ran a 3 hour and 1 minute or higher marathon are in Coral B this year (last year anyone with a 3 hour and 15 minute or below Marathon were in Coral A - major difference this year). I have noticed that the Pacers for Coral B start at 3 hours and 10 minutes which does not make much intuitive sense as many have run much lower than a 3:10 and so there will be a large proportion that do not require this Pace Group. What we require is a 3 hour Pace Group! (as well as 3 hour and 5 minute pace group) as this is going to be the goal for many, many runners in Coral B. Coral B starts with runners in 3:01 and above so it is vital, absolutely vital and imperative that the 3 hour and 3 hour and 5 minutes Pacers be in Coral B. There will be a significant contingent in Coral B that has ran much faster than a 3 hour and 10 min marathon and so that cannot be the starting Pace Group for Coral B.

Last year, runners with a 3 hour 15 minute and below Marathon were in Coral A and so this made sense to have the 3 hour, 3 hour and 5 minute Pacers in Coral A as there were many runners in the Coral A seeking these times. However this year, with all runners in Coral A having ran below a 3 hour and 1 minute marathon, a large proportion will not require a 3 hour and 3 hour and 5 minute pacer because they already have run these times (it is fine to have them in Coral A, but it is critical to have them in Coral B). I believe that the Nike Pace Group likely has not taken into consideration that all runners above 3 hours and 1 minute are in Coral B this year, thus, it is essential that Coral B have 3 hour and 3 hour and 5 minute pace groups!

Please email [email protected] and notify them that you are requesting this change - hopefully we can get this corrected and updated.
