Email to non trading accounts

Hi,

I have a percentage of user accounts that have signed up / created an account, but never ordered. I would like to email them to either try and get them to order / find out why they didn't order / close their account if they aren't happy.

Is anyone else doing this?

Would anyone share a generic template or example of an email they have previously used?

Thanks

Do you have their permission to email them?

Then you should be fine, I'd suggest framing it as a customer service email, "we noticed you didn't complete your order and wondered if something went wrong that we can help with"?

I'd recommend against closing accounts - they don't do any harm by being there.

Why close them? It shouldn't be costing you to leave them around. Not sure what you sell but have you considered getting email marketing going with your audience? Creating a user account is a significant barrier and if folks have taken the pains to do that, they see some value in what you offer. If I were you, I'd try and build a relationship with them and get them to engage (and email marketing is a great way to do that), and at some point, the conversions are bound to follow.

No big cost to keep them. Just looking to spark some action from these accounts, looking at the oldest first from 2010.

I sell personalized greeting cards printed on demand.

Was really interested to see what other businesses were doing with these accounts to get them engaged and trading.
