Creating a subreddit_stats request

PinnedANNOUNCEMENT

To make a subreddit_stats request please ensure your title is of the following format:

[request] SUBREDDIT_NAME VIEW OPTIONS

Where:

  • SUBREDDIT_NAME is the name of the subreddit to run the stats on.
  • VIEW is either a number, or one of the top listings all, day, hour, month, week, or year. When VIEW is a number, it number represents the number of past days to collect submissions for using the new listing. Otherwise, VIEW represents the respective top listing.
  • OPTIONS, when provided, can be one or both of -c NUMBER, or -s NUMBER. When both are provided -c must come first. -c and -s represent the number of top commenters, and top submitters to include in the report, respectively. When not provided, both values default to 10.

Note 1: SUBREDDIT_NAME cannot be a special subreddit (e.g., all) and the subreddit must be accessible to u/subreddit_stats.

Note 2: Self-text bodies are limited to 40,000 characters. If the report is too big, the number of top submitters will be incrementally lowered until it fits. This limit is why you may see fewer top submitters than requested by -s NUMBER.

Examples:

[request] redditdev all -c 32 -s 16
[request] subreddit_stats 730

If your request is invalid, you should receive a reply from u/subreddit_stats, assuming the bot is running.

Accuracy

For any of the top listings (all, day, hour, month, week, or year), only submissions that occur within the top 1000 are included in the result. Similarly, only comments belonging to one of those top 1000 submissions are included in the result.

When providing a number of days, only submissions up to that number of days and made within the last 1000 submissions are included, excluding the submissions made within the most recent 24 hours.

Regardless of the submission source, submissions with large number of comments may not have all their comments included. Submission threads with "load more comments" or "continue this thread" type links will only have comments loaded from 32 of those type of links.
