Black Wire

Feedback Received!

knotted up, knotted up
I tangle myself
into a ball of wire
black wire, oily
putrid black wire
gnawed by mice
in a ball, black wire
around the earth
muddy black wire
rolling, rolling
until I’m unraveled
a thin black line
wrapped around nothing.

Slightly difficult to interpret, but very interesting. I especially liked the black wire repetition to reinforce the point. Even though this is abstract poetry, this might just be me, but it would be good if you could provide a little bit more of a hint as to what the black wire actually represents. Depression coming unravelled? The darkness of life in general? Enjoyable read though. Keep up the good work.

This one struck my senses as viscerally sharp. The beginning 'knotted up, knotted up' sets the possibility of the narrator having an aversion with the main subject matter. My impression was that story about wrapping a string around the circumference of the earth or even all over the surface of the earth and the end result is that it becomes black and putrid and the narrator (voice of the earth) is now silenced because of the black wire carcass on top of it. The nothing is the negation of the whole planet which made the black line/wire available for production but which is spreading over its circumference with aversion to the very thing which made its creation possible.

In the end the line is unraveled/ too averse from its form to be an extended essence of its maker anymore. The idea of it being dirty muddy serves to further the idea that by being unclean/sharp/used this black wire is itsself no longer accepted by its maker.

Hope that was o.k. not too out there.

Your first sentence confirms my intentions are on the right track, and makes me feel happier about the work in general. Your interpretation is definitely out-there, but I can see where it comes from pretty easily. I honestly may try to play with the Ideas you saw in the piece, because I think it'll give it more to look at. Thanks for taking the time!
