Story Time: SFS almost killed me so AF bought me a car

It was a crisp summer day in Jappyland. I waltzed out of my dorms in my Blues (thanks, Gen Jumper) and hopped in my Nissan 240SX so I could arrive to work a little early. It was a Monday and I was just a bright-eyed little A1C shit.

I came to a stop at a stop sign (on base) and I heard the loud sirens of an emergency vehicle. I waited like a good vehicle operator does, as I wanted to allow the emergency vehicle unabated access to their destination. I continue to hear the sirens, but I still don't see any flashly thingies.

Oh, to my right, I see a brand new, shiny SFS cop car come barreling at me. I think to myself over these next 5-7 seconds... "Oh, flashy lights. So nice. Much bright." and... "Oh SFS.. So fast.. Not going to make the turn..."

When all of a sudden........

BOOM!!!!!

That nice new SFS cop car is now inside my driver's side door. (cars in Jappyland are Right Hand Drive). He was going so damn fast, that he didn't even remotely begin to make that 90-degree left turn, but instead, ended up T-Boning (heh) me in the drivers-side. So much force, that our cars both ended up on the fucking sidewalk. My airbag didn't deploy. Such nice car. Way good. Paid $900 for it, because poor A1C pay.

It just so happened, that an IG inspection team was visiting and they were walking by at the exact time of the crash. The team runs over, rips into the poor Airman who was driving, and checks to make sure I'm still alive. They have the Airman reverse his cop car out of my car, and pry open my door. I didn't have a scratch on me, thankfully.

Ambulance comes, puts me in a C-collar, yay.

AF gives me a check for $2800 because that was the market rate for my shitty little $900 car (yay!). I was able to buy an R32 Skyline GTS-T for less than that amount, so that was nice.

My 240SX? Well, the AF put it in a parking lot on base. Then I got a ticket because I didn't have it towed to a junk yard. I HAD TO PAY $500 TO HAVE IT JUNKED!!!! AND THE FUCKING AF WOULDN'T COVER THE COST OF THE TOW.

Moral of the story? AF will pay for your wrecked car. But fuck you if you need to have it towed to a junk yard because the AF fucking totaled it.

I felt bad for the SrA who was driving the cop car. I think he got an Article 15.
