FE8 PMU: Fates Edition

Hello r/fireemblem. I've been playing way too much Conquest recently, and I thought a FE8 PMU would be a fun break since it is my favourite game in the series. Instead of a normal PMU however, this one has a bit of a twist. Pick a character from Fates to replace a Sacred Stones character and I'll use my limited understanding of ROM hacking to make the change.

Here's en example of what Selena replacing Eirika would look like, using her Hero growths.

I don't have a clue how to do sprite editing, so I won't be editing any portraits, just names and numbers.

In order to determine base stats, I used the stats Selena joins with in Conquest and lowered each one by the average amount of points she would gain in that stat between level 1 (Eirika's starting level), and level 10 (Selena's starting level). In this case I references Selena's growths as a Hero

Eg. Selena starts with 12 Str, and has a Str growth of 45%. I'm going to send her back 9 levels (10-1), so on average should would lose 10*0.45 = 4 (rounded down from 4.05) points of Str. Since 12-4 is 8, her Str at level 1 would be 8.

Her Magic stat is ignored because in FE8 she's a physical unit. As for her Con, I just used the base Con of the Mercenary class. Her affinity is left unchanged.

Selena's growths are identical to her growths as a Hero in Fates (since growths don't increase on promotion in FE8, I'll always use growths from a unit's promoted class), and her stat caps are altered to match Mercenary stat caps without any personal bonuses. She would promote the same as any Mercenary in SS.

The Fates character will always keep their Primary Class. I know some Fates classes don't exist in FE8, so I did my best to put them in the most fitting role available.

Rules

• Difficulty is hard. No resets. No grinding. Go ahead and vote on the route

• Your pick must consist of one Sacred Stones character and one Fates character

• This PMU will be for 12 units. Eirika and Ephraim must both be replaced and are counted in the 12

• The Fates character based on their earliest join time in either CQ or BR, not REV

• The Fates character must be playable, so no Iago over Lute or something like that

• FE8 prepromotes can only be replaced with Fates prepromotes, so Ryoma over Seth is allowed, Hana over Seth is not

• Similarly, unpromoted units can only replace unpromoted units

• Feel free to specify the character's promotion path

• If you want to suggest edits beyond what I'm already doing, such as changing items or bosses, I will try to add them but I can't make any promises
