Legendary Cards Tier List
Hello, I´m Althayos, player of TESL since the open beta; and rank 20 legend right now. I have seen a lot of post asking for which legendary is better, the better free legendaries or so, and I even made one topic asking for our favorites legendary cards, but there isn´t a “Legendary Card Tier List” yet, so I decided to make one. In the first version of the post, I´ll rank the cards by my own opinion, but I would like your opinions to improve it. Thanks for reading. PD: If you can –and you like the post-, tell me how can I ask to pin up this post in the main page. Well, I finally managed to improve the appearance of the post; posting links and addind different sizes in the titles. I hope you´ll enjoy it! Thanks for reading!
Thanks for the support of all people. This post wasn´t pretended to be the ranking of one player; it´s the ranking of old our community here in reddit. Keep feedbacking, please!
#Tier List´s Ranks
##Insane: These cards have a great value-effect, and are almost a staple in all decks of it´s color or color combination. It´s usual to find them in ladder and they´re probably a crafting priority.
##Very Good: As the title says, very good cards, which you can substitute in the decks that use them, but are usually staple and usable in more than one archetype.
##Average: Cards that are rarely seen, with a yeah, average effect that can´t find them a slot in most decks. Some of them are “average” because the archetypes where they would fit aren´t developed enough yet.
##Bad: Cards that won´t see play at the moment because they simply have a bad effect and need to be buffed.
#Legendary Card Tier List
##Red Cards/Strength
###Insane:
- Blood Dragon: Extremely good and versatile: can be used in agro, mid-range and control. Worth in stats and effect.
###Very Good:
-
Vigilant Giant: Very good value, with a pretty good effect drawing a card when entering into the battlefield.
-
Dremora Markynaz: Good in control, even in midrange.
###Average:
-
Reive, Blademaster: Playable in aggro. Weak against cheap removal. (Mainly execute).
-
Wood Orc Headhunter: Good in orc decks.
-
Volendrug: It´s maybe “Very good” in control decks.
###Bad:
- Relentless raider: Em. Probably good or very good for aggro, but one point of damage it´s a pretty weak effect, and there are better –and cheaper- one turn minions.
##Blue Cards/Intelligence
###Insane:
-
Supreme Atromancer: Very versatile, very good as in stats as in effect.
-
Daggerfall Mage: Very, very good in guard decks.
###Very Good:
-
Nahkriin, Dragon Priest: Very good in control, even reaching the insane tier. I never used him, so I need help here.
-
Divayth Fyr: Some control list, if not most, run him has high-cost minion. The bad part: his initial damage is random. Their tokens, Daugthers of Fyr, are exactly the same as him, as in the Elder Scrolls' Lore.
-
Indoril Archmage: Board clean most of the time, very good in control.
-
Mentor´s Ring: Very good in ward decks, could fit in others.
###Average
###Bad
- Staff of Sparks: Good if combined with a creature with lethal. If not, bad, or as much, average.
##Yellow cards/Willpower
###Insane:
Nothing. No card is hyper-strong by itself.
###Very good
-
Descendant of Alkosh: This card has a high snowball potential and it's consideres one of the best turn 1 in the game.
-
Haafingar Marauder Possibly good in aggro, better in midrange.
-
Miraak, Dragonborn: Very good in control. Steal a creature+good body is pretty strong.
-
Dawn´s Wrath: Great spell in control, specially in the combination with intelligence.
###Average
-
Renowed Legate: Usable in midrange-control, however it´s not the best legendary in the game.
-
Dawnbreaker: Yeah, Drawnbreaker it´s just an average card. It would be good in an undead meta, but now it isn´t worth to carry it.
-
Auroran Sentry: Sadly, this card is too meta-dependant; too weak against removals and archer decks.
##Green cards/Agility
###Insane
-
Tazkad the Packmaster: Incredible value, not only for the body, also for the charge hability.
-
Ungolim the Listener: Great value in midrange and control. In a medium-long match, you will draw at least one assassin, maybe two or even three. Especially good for archers, because of the constant draw they have.
His tokens are 1 Magicka 3-3 with Lethal and draw a card when entering into the battlefield.
###Very Good
-
Quin´rawl Burgral: Great in almost all archetypes, with a great snowball capacity and also a great ability to recover: drain.
-
Thieves´Den Seems very good in thieves decks. ###Average
-
Necrom Mastermind: Simply, I doubt Last Gasp´s decks can be a thing right now, because they haven´t real synergy apart of this. Maybe good in a future expansion.
###Bad
- Nest of Vipers Overcosted.
###Spider Daedra Tier
Yeah, okey, I couldn´t resist. Spider Daedra is bad, so bad, impossible to use in any (competitive) deck.
##Purple cards/Endurance
###Insane
-
Lucien Lachance: Good, very good in the right deck.
-
Black Marsh Warden: So good in midrange-ramp decks. The decks usually use 2 or 3.
-
Blood Magic Lord: Great card, no needed to stay alive to get value from him. His tokens are all two mana. I don´t know their names, but I know what they do:
+Deal 5 damage to your enemy and restore 5 points of life to yourself. +Summon two random minions from both cemeteries and put each one in one of your lanes. +5-5 taunt. +Chain all enemy creatures in a lane.
###Very good
-
Iron Atronarch: Good stats and board control, but weak against removal minions and lethal.
-
Bone Colossus: Great in midrange and control, the total value of his body+tokens is pretty awesome, especially if you managed to keep him alive.
-
Nahagliiv: Good in control. He hates mantikore almost as hard as Iron Atronarch.
-
Night Talon Lord: I think he deserves to be in the insane tier, but a lot of people say he´s too slow for it. However, a lot of control deck run one, which is amazing in a medium-controlled board. If you can´t steal minions, you can always recover life with his drain.
###Average
- Doomcrag Vampire Ok, he´s good, you´ll get value almost always.
##Mixed Cards
###Insane
-
General Tullius: Pretty good in zoo, weak at his first stage, but with potential to snowball fast. He also provides protection in difficult situations and he allows to cover your minions for lethal in others.
-
High King Emeric: Very good in wards decks, especially because you can go face with his ability. Also, his stats are pretty good, because he has ward.
-
Ayreen: Carried in all decks that can run her.
###Very Good
-
**Ahnasii:**It seems to be very good, even until the point that it could reach insane tier.
-
Red Bramman: A staple in ramp decks, a card that provides mainly protection and potential to develop board-go face, the same as Tullius.
-
Gortwog gro-Nagorm: I need help here. I suppose he can be great in control decks, but I don´t know if that archetype, control red-purple, is viable right now.
###Average
-
Merric-at-Aswala: He actually seems good; providing a lot of burst potential.
-
Tyr: Usable in midrange-token decks.
-
Allena Benoch Usable in Archer decks.
-
Queen Barenziah Yeah, average. Possibly very good in control.
###Bad
##Neutral
###Insane
- Odahviing: This card is in every single control deck; can help getting the board for you, and finishing a difficult match.
###Very good
-
Goldbrand: Great in control decks, could fit in midrange.
-
Mundus Stone: At least in arena, top tier. Ward, Drain or Lethal can give you a lot of help.
-
¿Wabbajack? This thing is so random, but it can become your 1-1 recruit into Odahviing, Iron Atronarch or so. If you managed to use it in a good moment, you can get enormous value from it. I think very good is the correct tier for it, in the correct deck, but it´s not the type of card i would run in my deck.
###Average
- Orb of Vaemira: This card has two negative points: is too slow, and the cards you draw can have cero synergy with your deck. Maybe good in control.
###Bad
- Adoring fan: It´s just a bit annoying for your opponent, but is a huge tempo lost for really nothing at all.
