8 days ago we get a post saying the Blazers are "close" to hiring someone, and it's a name we're familiar with. Since then I can't find anything about a potential hire, and we're nearly to preseason. If they have the hire already in place, what's the hold up?

My guess is they are having a hard time or couldn't come to terms with the talent they were working with last week.
The good news is we still have 2 months till opening night. Also If rather have a rotating cast of guest color commentators this season than to have them hire the wrong guy.

The Blazers could redeem themselves, by taking Mike Barrett back. I still cannot fathom not being able to have the Mike's next season. It really will make the broadcasts and the whole representation of the team much less wholesome. I might not even follow Portland, at all, just cuz of that move and not being able to have those 2 as announcers.
