Unite has a file_list source!
While not a new feature, the file_list source is great for large projects. Loading this filelist is far faster than file_rec/async since it doesn't need to examine every file. However, you need to generate the filelist (which I do with find after sync'ing to HEAD).
With this feature, you can create a command that uses your filelist:
command! -nargs=* UniteFiles :exec 'Unite -start-insert file_list:'. escape(s:GetFilelist(), ':') . ' <args>'
Where s:GetFilelist returns the path to that filelist. Here's a way to walk up your directory tree to find it. escape() is used for Win32 (unite uses : to separate arguments).
I've wanted this since I started using Unite (and not having it was the main reason I still have ctrlp installed)!
