Reading The Wrestling Observer Rewind, it's interesting to note that the situation in the early 90's is quite similar to now
WWE is having bad attendance/ratings
It's in some sort of controversy that leads to a lawsuit (Steroids vs Concussion)
A veteran is doing business for himself (Hogan vs Lesnar)
Wrestling in America is stagnating, while it's doing great in Japan
A company in Mexico is loosing stars/money and might be going under (EMLL vs AAA)
Europe is the bastion for WWE to make a quick buck
WWE's main rival is helmed by someone who doesn't fully utilise the talent they have and is on the verge of being replaced (Watts vs Dixie). It's also backed by a corporate entity that gives it money (Ted Turner's TBS vs Panda Energy)
WWE brings back Bob Backlund.
anyways, a special thanks for u/daprice82 for his awesome Wrestling Observer Rewind threads
