DO I even need a car inspection?

So I recently signed up for Uber, my paperwork sent in and my background check complete. I get an email saying everything is all set and ready to go so I download the app and log in. I still haven't got my car inspected though.

Now here is where I am confused, I can literally go online and receive ride requests?! Shouldn't I have to get my car inspected before I start driving? If not ill start driving tonight but I dont want any problems. Also there doesn't seem to be a list of car shops around Boston anywhere on the internet; only the UBER shops within Boston.

TL;DR: I haven't gotten my car inspected yet and the uber app is letting me drive. There seems to be no car shops near me, Is inspection even required?
