[New Player] What is going on?

Hey guys, new player here (40 hours).

Ok, so over this 40 hours i have been learning the mechanics, differents factions, and managed to buy an Asp Explorer.

I have been trying to stay away from powerplay but I think now is a good time to delve into it.

In the last few weeks, everyone has been going crazy over artefacts, coded signals and Jaques station.

Can someone summarize what is going on and, more importantly, HOW i can be a part of this.
