What's the best way to go about protecting our garage? Details inside

We run a product-based business out of our home and store our products in our garage. As such, we'd like to be able to secure these.

The motion detectors I've been looking at are a bad idea as opening the garage doors will set them off. I've also heard that heat in the summer can cause them to be extremely sensitive.

Is there a better alternative for protecting the inside of our garages? Is there such thing as a motion detector that interconnects to our garage door openers that is disabled if the garage is opened with one of our garage door openers?
