So I moved from Loveland to Utah a year ago (for work) . I'm in town visiting and I wanted to check out that new gun range at I-25 & Hwy 34. I guess it's technically located in Johnstown. That place is unbelievably nice, and not terribly priced either.

However, I was completely shocked when they told me I had to pass a background check in order to shoot there! Really? WTF happened out here since I left a year ago? The girl at the counter told me that the city of Johnstown made them agree to do that in order to allow them to build the facility. I honestly find that hard to believe, but I'm no expert on how cities regulate what businesses can build. I also questioned what kind of background check they did. Apparently it's just a state and federal database they check, and not the actual CBI.

The whole thing really caught me off guard and made me want to walk right back out. I ended up staying and shooting, only because I was taking a friend to shoot for the first time and I didn't want to ruin his day. Otherwise I would have walked right back out. IDK maybe I'm over reacting, or maybe I've already gotten used to how easy everything gun related in Utah is.
