Rear ended in Florida, being offered $500 for injury by insurance company - is this normal? Planned on selling car soon, what happens to its value?
My father was rear ended. His vehicle seems to be in good shape besides the rear bumper, which will need to be replaced. He claims to be OK, but he does have a headache and is feeling dizzy at the moment. I am making him go to a doctor against his will to make sure that he is completely OK.
The at fault driver has an expired drivers license, and the vehicle they were driving was their friend’s. My father reported the accident to the vehicle owner’s insurance company.
Their insurance company is willing to pay for my father’s repair, car rental, and is also offering $500 for his “headache” / "the inconvenience the accident has caused." This seemed strange to him, as all he wanted was for his vehicle to be repaired.
His question was whether this was normal and if he should accept this money or if that was a bad idea?
He was planning to sell his vehicle soon and purchase a different one. Since his car has now been in an accident, the value of it will not be the same as it was before.
Is it possible to receive any compensation for this drop in value the accident has caused?
