Things I wish I knew before I played MUT part 3; buying packs.

Hey guys!

After seeing the latest bundle is all pro packs, and noticing a myriad of questions from our newer members about what packs to buy, I thought now is the perfect time to dive into just what makes a pack valuable over another.

Now before I dive into this I think it's best to remind everyone again that WORTH is a SUBJECTIVE TERM.

For some, spending any money whatsoever beyond the initial cost of the game is absurd and that's a fair point. For others, spending a lot of money is ok as it's a hobby and all other bills are paid. Again valid point. So the point of this is not to cast a judgment on any party or approach to how you yourself personally play MUT, it's more of an examination on how valuable a pack is in the grand scheme of MUT.

NEVER BUY PACKS WITH COINS!!!!

What exactly are in packs?

This may seem obvious but truly the first thing to understand though is just how the algorithm works in order to access the value of purchasing a pack a pack in the first place.

So all packs will have player and team items as you all know. However what you may not understand is just how those items fit into rarer pulls. For example only gold cards can be elite and only team items can be elite collectibles.

Beyond that the gold card would of had to have already been between 82-84 before "evolving" into an elite.

Silver cards that are 70-71 can increase to 72-74 overall golds, and only silver cards can do this, while bronze is responsible for kickers, punters and fullbacks who are not elite.

So when you look at a pro pack you have 1 chance for an elite, 2 for a 72-74 overall gold, and 3 for a kicker/punter or full back along with 4 team items that could potentially be flashback, puzzle or legends.

This is why it says "gold or better" on the pack inventory before you purchase.

What packs did we have last year? Glad you asked, last year we had pro packs, veteran packs, all pro packs, game changers, and x factor packs, along with legends and now flashbacks. All but pro packs last year guaranteed a badge in them with the value increasing from veteran giving you a bronze or better to x factor giving you an elite. However seeing as how all pro packs this year have yet to include a silver or better badge it remains to be seen if other packs will guarantee badges at all. Legend packs gave you a guaranteed legend item and were generally the best way to make you coins back and I imagine the same will hold true this season.

We also had 5-5-5 packs which gave you 5 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze players but no team items, which I honestly think will be great to hold onto for man of the month sets, should we see them again.

That's all well and good but how does this help me pick what packs to buy?

Well that's the million dollar question and what it essentially comes down to is what you value. If you're looking for the best return on investment then pro packs are far better than all pro, or veteran as the silvers are going for more than golds in some cases, along with a few bronze team items. However if you want the best shot at an elite then something like a game changer giving you 10 gold players and x factors giving you 12, will give you a far greater opportunity than anything else.

Therefore it's easy to understand that the best value for elites is something that gives you ten or more cracks at the bat, while anything less is going to be a far less ROI compared to pro packs especially with man of the month sets updating every month.

TLDR

If you want to buy packs only buy backs that give you ten or more gold opportunities like game changer or X factor instead of pro packs.
