Using Digital Resources During Reading

Hello,

First year currently running in circles. My district has started to use Epic, an online resource to access digital books. At first I was pretty excited to use it but now I'm struggling because the students have no other access to the text except for what I have projected onto the screen. Any activity we try to do runs into the same problem for a handful of students "Ms. Swanqueennnn could I look through the book?"

I feel I'm missing something obvious but the only option I can think of is doing the activity together and that's not the purpose of it. For a book we're reading tomorrow they need to create a flow map of the events. Many of my students struggle with comprehension, I'm not sure how I can expect them to accomplish these tasks without a text for them to access.

Anyone have this issue?
