[23/f] how to get over my ex [22/m] of 4 years and get him to want me again!

My ex dumped me out of the blue saying he was really happy with me, but wanted to be single again, didn't think he treated me well in the relationship because he was too immature and that he needed to "grow up without me" and be with other people.

He then said to me "I'm not seeing this as a proper break up...just a break....but I don't know how long for, so don't wait for me" . He has also gone travelling for 8 weeks and is apparently having the most amazing time ever-so he isn't even sad about us not being together...which makes me feel even worse.

I don't want to wait, but I feel him saying that has made me hold onto something that probably will not happen. My confidence has been crushed completely, and all I can think. About is the possibility of being back with him. However I want to stop these thoughts :(

If anyone has any advice on this please let me know! I am rally struggling to get out of this mindset. I want him to want me back, but I want to get back with him when I am ready and on my own terms, and make him respect me more
