hey R/edh, share your best "you know, Im not even mad" story
The other night i was playing with some friends, and one of them was playing [[Marchesa the black rose]] doing the usual steal and sacrifice shenanigans no big deal. He's been stealing stuff from everyone and ordering their return to the batlefield so he can graft them with [[cytoplast manipulator]] and friends. Our two decks don't really interfere with each other, so typically we leave one another alone; this game marked an end to that. So I'm sitting behind a pillowfort, when Riku slams a [[Palinchron]] down, and states he's going to copy it. It resolves, Riku untaps some stuff, taps and untaps again, plays some creatures and passes the turn. Marchesa untaps, and plays a [[Press into Service]] putting two +1+1 counters on Riku's original Palinchron and gaining control of it.
At this point people are kinda freaking out that a Palinchron is going to be hitting the board every turn for marchesa, but no one can stop Marchesa, since all attempts to target his stuff end with him saccing the creature to [[ashnod's alter]]. Anyone who's ever played marchesa with an instant speed sac outlet knows that at the end of your turn/your next opponents upkeep you can sac your board, and it'll come back at the next endstep. This allows you to dodge a lot of boardwipes and sorcery speed removal, since you can just keep doing it as long as you have graft creatures to reapply the counters when the creatures come back. To make this simple, this particular marchesa player usually just flips his creatures face down to indicate their temporary presence in the graveyard, and so that he doesnt have to constantly move the cards from zone to zone. Hes up front about it, and will happily answer questions about his graveyard, or just flip the cards back if you have want to take a look for yourself. Thanks to this little habit he didnt immediately realize what would happen when i topdecked, grinned like a demon and cast a [[Rakdos Charm]] Exiling his graveyard. There was a beat of silence, then "Well shit. That's really, really good right now.... high five?"
So how about it r/EDH do you have any stories where you blew out an opponent and they were more impressed with the play than mad at the loss? Lets here them.
