Anyone use a coffee cup warming plate to heat up Hot Hide Glue?

Something like this?

I've seen people use coffee pots and crock pots as a double boiler for HHG but I was wondering if I could use something like this as well? I only need a small amount at a time so I'd put a mason jar of water on the hot plate/warmer and then put my smaller container of glue inside the jar.

Thoughts?
