BMW hard or soft paint?

Anyone here uses a Porter Cable 7424 polisher? Did you determine your paint was hard or soft? I'm planning on doing a 3 stage paint correction on my e70 but after further research I'm starting to consider skipping the compounding and just using polish and sealant and wax, effectively making it a 2 stage correction.
I planned on using Chemical Guys hexlogic pads. Specifically the orange, white and black and red (either one) for waxing.
