What are the recent trends/advances and modern topics of research in algebraic aspects of representation theory?

What are the contemporary major research topics in algebraic aspects of representation theory? I know the geometric aspects are quite active and was wondering how active the algebraic aspects of the theory are. It's easy to look for such topics from papers on the arXiV and math overflow, but I thought it'd be easier to just have some of the names/buzzwords together in the same place.
