US. Need 15" workstation laptop for 3D modeling/rendering, $1500USD

Valid Form
  • Total budget and country of purchase: $1,500USD, prefer lower, but can go to 1,600 if significantly warranted.

  • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications to your requirements for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Standard clamshell preferred, good battery is nice but not high on my priority list. Would like best specs for 3D modeling

  • How important is weight to you? Not particularly at all.

  • Which OS do you require? Windows, Linux, Mac. Windows is fine.

  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15" vastly preferred. Can be swayed though.

  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. If you have no requirements, put N/A. Zbrush, Maya, 3DS Max, Substance Painter, Marmoset, Photoshop, Illustrator. Often having Zbrush and 3DS Max/Maya open at the same time.

  • If you're gaming (leave blank if you put N/A above...), do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Prefer to play newish games at 60fps, even if on low settings. Not hugely worried about it.

  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable business grade build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Good trackpad means a lot, preferably durable, would prefer not to have a touch screen but I don't care, same goes for the finger-print reader. Don't care about optical drive. Good keyboard would certainly be nice.

  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. This is subjective, but I prefer if the laptop has a MacBook-ish design, this doesn't matter A TON to me, I'm trying to focus on getting the right specs for working, but a nice body is always nice.

Trying to get a mobile workstation that I can take to Korea with me to replace my old 2012 MacBook Pro.
