The curse of the jittery, jumpy iMac mouse icon

Short

*NOTE: I dont usually work on Macs or anything Apple related. But this has nothing to do with Macs, just me having a brain fart.

Im at home working on Mr and Mrs Customers 2009 iMac. It had plenty of typical issues from running quite hot, locking up, sluggish, etc.

I try for a day to backup the data with it locking up and wasting a lot of my time. I take her apart, clean her out the best I can and she works OK.

Then the GPU artifacts begin....really badly. Then it fixes itself.

Then onto the jittery mouse cursor. This thing is going nuts. Making tons of micro movements super fast then darting here and there every few seconds. I unplug my trusty wired mouse and its still going bonkers.

I power it down and let it sit thinking its another symptom of a dying, old age Mac.

Finish the backup and reinstall. All works as it should and quite well. I then cant find Mr & Mrs Customers wireless mouse and keyboard I brought with me to re-sync them and make sure they work.

I usually place stuff on the washer or dryer as I come in from the garage if I have more than on trip. I later find the mouse in the back of the washer (op top). Stuff vibrates around when the washer it used, so it must have moved on its own back there.

about 5-minutes into cleaning up the mouse and keyboard it hits me....the wireless mouse was left on....vibrating across the top of the washing machine as Im working away. Being only a wall between us...it was close enough to reek havoc.

And this is why you dont ALWAYS blame the equipment.
