[Acne] How do you prevent blackheads from forming?

I have finally decided to take action regarding the blackheads on my nose.

I realise that one of the first questions people ask is: are you sure they are not sebaceous filaments (SFs)? According to this post, SFs are white, fleshlike, or white-grey coloured while mine are clearly black. They also appear to be solid. Therefore, I do not believe they are SFs.

I have just purchased a blackhead remover. However, I would ideally like to prevent the blackheads from forming in the first place. I use Paula's Choice salicylic acid on the nose from time to time but I will start applying it more regularly.

What advice would you give to prevent the formation of blackheads? Thanks!
