MacBook Pro 2015 can't see home wifi networks

I just bought a used rMBP on eBay and it has trouble seeing wifi networks in my home. Not connecting, actually seeing them. As in they don't show up in the network list. The router is set to auto channel select and broadcast SSID. I've tried resetting the router and the macbook, I did a clean install of El Capitan, I reset the SMC and the PRAM. The odd thing is I can see and connect to my university's wifi network just fine when I'm on campus. This problem is driving me nuts.

I'm using a Netgear WNDR3400 running DD-WRT build 21286 v24-sp2 mega, but I've tried several other access points that I had on hand and had the same problem. I've tried everything I can find but all the forum posts and guides I've found are either for if you can see the network, for older devices, or just didn't have any answers.
