Family friend selling an '06 Volvo XC90 V8 for above blue book value, but with only 65k miles. Worth considering?
Long story short I'm in the market for an SUV with around $15k to spend. Family friend approached me looking to sell his 2006 Volvo XC90 for $13k (to cover what's left on his loan for the car). The car looks to be in great shape with nothing out of the ordinary on the Carfax and it got a clean inspection from his mechanic last week. The blue book value of the car is around $8k, but that's assuming it has 120k+ miles on it.
Is this worth considering? My main concern is the fact that the car is already 10 years old, but it looks to have been very well maintained, and I've been under the impression that Volvo makes a pretty reliable car. I've had trouble finding a ton of options based on what I'm looking for (except for a million Jeep Patriots, which I've seen get pretty bad reviews on here and elsewhere) and I'm ok with overpaying a little if I can expect the car to last 5+ years, but I obviously don't want to buy a car that's going to cost me a ton in maintenance.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
