Preparing to start undergrad research - any advice?
Recently got accepted into a professor's research lab. Looking for advice on research topics, etc.
So, I'm expected to come up with an independent project, but I've only taken 2 semesters of intro bio (evolution and cells/genetics) - currently taking molecular cell biology + genetics (and some biochem classes).
I recently started teaching myself Python using Zed Shaw's book, but it's nowhere near the level for practical application. I don't have a strong background in maths/stats/compsci/chemistry, either.
I'm interested in bioengineering and topics with medical/clinical/human applications - more generally, molecular stuff.
I'm planning on helping other lab members out with their projects for a couple weeks to give myself some time to study up on different techniques/protocols, but I'm really, really new to the lab. Any advice would be appreciated, e.g. picking a topic, time management, etc.
Cheers!
