Counter damage multipliers

Does anybody else miss the counter damage multipliers from DS2? Sure, some weapons were silly (why the fuck did katanas need super high counter damage?) but it really helped diversify weapon selection. For instance, the Spider Silk is a rapier that ignores shields, however, it deals 40% less counter damage than most other rappers. Similarly, the basic Dagger did nearly as much damage on a counter hit as an estoc did. The shortest greatsword, the Drakeblood, did 140% damage on a counter hit, while most greatswords only did 110%. The weakest greatsword, the Key to the Embedded, did a whopping 150%, allowing it to keep pace or outshine other greatswords if you were good at landing counters.

They definitely didn't change it up as much as they could have, many weapon classes are either uniform or have very little difference in their counter damage values. Regardless, it was something to keep in mind when choosing a weapon. If they put this in DS3, it could really help boost up some very under used weapons. For instance, they could give the Grand Lance incredible counter damage so that you could output some crazy damage with a well timed hit. They could make Carthus Curved Sword have a lower counter damage than other curved swords so people have a reason to use them. They could give some weaker weapon, like the great mace or Saint Bident, perseverance and 130 counter damage so it could be an incredible anti gank weapon.

What do you think? Do you miss counter multipliers too?
