1080p LCD TV vs 4k TV vs projector

Hi, I'm totally new to this sub, but I got a new apartment and my two new roommates and I need a TV and we're going big. Football season is coming up and we want a big 60+ inch TV. I've been looking for about a month and can't make up my mind. I was originally looking at 4k TVs, but the cheapest ones are $2k+. I wanted to go 4k to future proof myself, but I'm not sure if it makes sense with the lack of 4k tv channels and media.

Since we would be spending at least $2k it go me thinking that we could get a larger LCD 1080p TV or get a good LCD projector + mounting equipment + screen for the same price and have a 100inch screen. We would only be hooking up cable and google chrome.

Thoughts?
