After several years of being an associate that has never received a coaching or done anything wrong, and was constantly asked to help out in other departments, I was recently fired. I was told that I had taken a water off the shelf, put it under my shoulder and walked right back to the breakroom. When asked by APM why I would do this, I told them I didn't remember doing it, but if I had done it I would immediately tell someone and go pay for it. They also said that the way that I did it looked like something I had done a million times before. When I asked if I could see the footage, I was told that the cameras don't lie. I called market management and spoke with the head of human resources to appeal. She said that when she watched the footage, it was clear that I did it and that there was nothing else she could do. I asked her if the only way I could see the footage was if I got a lawyer, and she said that even then I still may not see it because it most likely wouldn't make it to court. This is the only job I've had and I know that wal-mart gets a lot of flak, for treating employees badly, but up until this point, I've been treated with the utmost respect. Even though I'm ineligible for rehire, I would be willing to go back if it turned out to be false. Is getting a lawyer, my only option, left?
