[Crushes] How do I become friends with him?

Ever since last week, I started to develop feelings for this one guy who sits at my lunch table. I see him everyday, but we're only acquaintances because I'm kinda shy and passive, so I don't really know how to keep him engaged in a conversation. We don't have any classes together, I don't think he even takes the same classes as me. He's such a dork, which I think is the most adorable quality about him haha. Idk if he's gay or bi, but I at least want to be friends with him. Any advice?
