imgur images don't load in Chrome only...

When I click on an imgur image on reddit or go directly to imgur it seems about 80% of the time the image won't load at all no matter how many times I try. The images load fine in Firefox or Edge. I'm on Win10 anniversary.

This issue has cropped up in the past for people I see by searching, but none of their fixes have worked.

So far I have tried:

Wiping and reinstalling Chrome

Chrome beta

Deleting all cookies and cache

Incognito mode

Removing all extensions

Changing my DNS servers to Google's

Disabling my virus scanner

There are some other things I've tried that I'm probably not remembering. This only happens in Chrome and I can't fix it no matter what I've tried. It has to be a Chrome issue it seems but I can't figure it out.

Any suggestions?

edit: After more research it seems this is an issue with .gifv not being loaded in Chrome. google apparently doesn't permit this? But if so, why aren't more people reporting this issue?
