Been doing SL 5x5 for a while.. but want to try something new
So quick fitness history:
- 2013 160, 5'9" pretty much all fat
- 2014 135 decided to workout and only did cardio so i became pretty much bones
- 2015 140 went to gym looked up routines started stronglift 5x5 around september
- 2016 155 still doing stronglift but here are the problems i've come across:
- In the beginning I didn't eat enough so it was really hard for me to progress.
- Whenever i have vacation/school/work/etc that makes me miss up to week or more of working out, i deload so much due to failure + not working out enough so I drop around 20% and not progress
- I messed up my knee a couple times with squats so I had to take breaks, my form was pretty bad in the beginning.
My highest points for compounds were:
- Squat 5x5 175 7/9/16
- Deadlift 1x5 240 7/25/16
- Bench 5x5 140 8/4/16
- Pendlay 120 5x5 8/4/16
- Overhead 100 5x5 7/25/16
- I was around 145-150 lbs, and this is pretty much where I had to deload.
- Stopped doing squats and deadlift for almost 2 months so I could get my knees to recover.
Current diet is:
- Pretty much whatever to get me to the 3000 kcal/day mark.. I started out honestly with 5-6 meals a day hitting the macros, but after summer vacation I've found it that I've been cheating more to reach the calorie mark since I don't have time for fitting in those extra meals. As a result, the fatness shows
What I'm aiming for:
- I'm not looking to be like super bulky, just want to be moderately strong while looking lean (aesthetics I guess, like abs. I guess a routine where I can get low body fat% but not lose too much muscle? Everytime I try dieting I lose weight pretty rapidly and muscle is usually the first to go..). Right now I am skinny fat I think... I can't keep regularly eating and maintaining weight due to school/work/etc so I want to get to 150, pretty much looking for a cutting routine. Looked up some routines and PHUL seems like it would help me. I want to improve in my overhead press and bench, switch pendlay row for a barbell row, not do squats as often since it really burns out your body.
edit: format was so terrible, i'm not really reddit saavy..
