The whole No Man's Sky situation is giving me serious deja vu

Peter Molyneux, anyone?

Ambitious, well meaning developer with the ability to get people really excited and is just a plain likable guy. Offers big promises off of a small team, no control over what he says he just says what he wants the game to be rather than what it actually is. Guy really knows how to work the room.

Replace Peter Molyneux with Sean Murray and you have NMS debuckle right there.
