Hot spot problems.
Hey all,
I wanted to ask for advice on an issue that has continually showed itself in all of my plain round wire builds..hot spots.
For example, I have a dual 18650 series box and I tend to build just plain builds to get around .4 ish ohms. For this build I used 22g kanthal around a 3.5mm bit 12 wraps, got them installed, straightened up, glowing evenly, the whole nine. Wicked them up, checked resistance and screwed them on my box. Fired it some before I put the top cap on and after about a 2 second hit...bam..hot spot glowing orange right in the middle of one of my coils.
Now this seems to happen to me EVERY time I build plain coils, never have this issue with twisted, Clapton, etc..
I've tried tightening the screws to the point I've broke so many leads, countless times of strumming and pinching..I think it could be my wicking and I don't notice it on more complex builds because of their ability to hold juice in themselves..
Just wanted some input on this plague on my coil building existence..thanks in advance!
For scientific reasons..rda is a 24mm mason
