Question about use of Akai

I am a guitar player. I've played acoustic for several years and just got into electric as well as music theory/composition. Now that I'm playing out of an amp and writing, I'm considering recording. I see there a tons and tons of options for a "drum machine" bass lines, there are synthesizers, mini keyboards, oscillators...I don't know what I need. I've looked at something like the Akai MPK Mini II and it seems interesting; seems like it would do all kinds of things I could use with my playing and recording. I've also looked at an Arturia Microbrute as well. Basically I'm so new to these things I don't even know the difference; what either does and what I'd need. I don't know what software (if any?) I'd need along with these pieces of hardware, and I don't know how to actually recording anything. Finally, I have a chromebook and I'm guessing I'll need to acquire a computer with Windows or a Mac? Sooo, could anyone point me in the right direction regarding a (multi-effect/synthesizer/minikeyboard) recording for dummies or a similar resource? any information greatly appreciated!
