Do same weapons appear as different rarities in Breach?

I'm quite surprised that my Battle Rifle is a lowly rank C item, yet the Combat Rifle is S rank. Shadowchild's gift pistol is also C rank, yet I acquired the standard B rank Pistol. Is this the one exception (cause of tutorial items and stuff) or can I get a B/A/S Battlerifle?
