Recommend a "Mobile Workstation" for Digital Media (15.6" USA $2800)
-
Total budget and country of purchase: Willing to spend about $2800 USD, but a better deal is always preferred

Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications to your requirements for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I prefer good battery life and proper specifications. I don't mind larger or bulkier options as a tradeoff. Don't know what 2-in-1 means
-
How important is weight to you? Not a factor, I'd rather have something heavy and durable than light and prone to physical degradation
-
Which OS do you require? Windows, Linux, Mac. Windows, I am currently running 8.1
-
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15.6"

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. If you have no requirements, put N/A. Looking to get into video editing (Adobe Premier), but the primary use will be for intensive audio applications. Need a powerful processor for running multiple instances of complex NI Reaktor, Max MSP, and Ableton Live patches (as well as other audio processing/synthesizing plugins). Also need a large amount of RAM and at least 512GB SSD for loading samples in Kontakt and Ableton directly.

If you're gaming (leave blank if you put N/A above...), do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable business grade build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Need reliable build quality for performances, plus I tend to be a little rough with my laptops (lots of moving). More usb3.0 ports the better, and a decent backlit keyboard and display would be nice. Firewire port would be nice as well, but I'm pretty sure nobody makes those anymore. NO touchscreens

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I've done a bit of research myself and narrowed myself down to the Thinkpad P50 series and the Dell Precision 15 7000 series. The Xeon processors seem like a good option, but I'm unsure how they compare to i7. Despite the fact that I've been thinking about a new laptop for over a year now, I might be overlooking some options. I'd appreciate any insight on my options and anything I've yet to consider
Thanks in advance
